Doctor Who Fall Special 2009
Nov. 15th, 2009 07:25 pmoh, the manpain! damn that was depressing.
i liked this episode, because it deals with the whole time issue. destiny vs. choice and all that rot. there are so many theories, but how do you KNOW? and you don't.
i am greatly thankful that the doctor said fuck you to the laws and to history. it annoys me when it is dealt with in a 'you have no choice' type way, or 'it HAS to happen' this way.
what really bugged me was adelaide killing herself. wtf? i don't understand why she suddenly felt that the doctor's original explanation MUST be correct, and felt that she couldn't inspire her granddaughter face to face. what made her SO convinced that she thought she had to kill herself? why the hardcore conviction after only knowing the doctor for such a short period of time? that seemed pretty lame. (cuz suicide is totes gonna keep the granddaughter on track. uh-huh.)
i like the doctor saying 'fuck it. i'll do what i want.' because he IS a time lord and i don't think he went too far at all.
EDIT: this was SO not a kid/family friendly episode, and that just makes me hate tptb for THEIR hubris, more than the doctor for his. (i say this because i've been trying to get my sister to watch this show, and keep telling her it's kid friendly. but when i'm telling her about episodes like this you can tell she's so not convinced and probably won't watch).
