my computer has a virus or some shit so it's down and out :(

anyhow, never edited last week for my thoughts on the results. i think casey was the right one to go, even tho i do like him.

lee dewyze

1. repeat of 'the boxer' - he did fine, but it was nothing amazing, and i liked his original performance better

2. 'everybody hurts' by rem - not a fan of rem, but i actually do like this song. he did fairly well, but again, nothing amazing. he really needs to learn how to PERFORM. show some emotion for fuck's sake.

3. 'beautiful day' by u2 - okay, so the single this year is a cover? what the stupid fuck? he did pretty good, but i still think this is LAME. ai is so done.

crystal bowersox

1. repeat of 'bobby magee' - again, she did fine, but nothing amazing.

2. 'black velvet' by alannah myles - seriously? terrible song choice. plus, i thought she sounded abosolutely horrible. just really really bad.

3. 'up to the mountain' by (i don't know) - i LOVE this song and she did a fine job, but kelly clarkson just OWNS this song for me. crystal didn't even come close in my opinion.

so i really don't care who wins. i'm not a huge fan of either. i really liked lee at the beginning, but i'm pretty bored of him now because he always looks so bleh and sleepy and like he just isn't giving it his all. i want MORE, dude. and i did't like crystal at all at the beginning, and then i DID like her, and now i am pretty ambivalent about her. so yeah, don't really care either way. crystal has been the expected winner from the beginning, but they've really been pushing lee the past several weeks, so him winning wouldn't be a surprise. coin toss.

EDIT for the RESULTS:

kris allen performing 'the truth' right at the beginning was awesome. he sounded really good. him and two of his guitarists got haircuts which i found funny. man i love this kid :)

omg stupid fucking idol made me cry. when kelly came out i thought she looked gorgeous (she got a haircut too! hehe) and sounded great. then when the rest of the previous winners came out (minus david cook) i started crying! and then so many other old contestants started coming out and it was so cool and i'm such a pansy! i thought it was really cool and simon's speech was actually very sweet and it was really the best part of the night. (kris sounded great here as well :)

oh, and lee won.

goodbye idol. it's been fun, but i think our time is over. hopefully i won't buckle come next season saying something stupid like 'i just can't quit you' or whatever. stay strong. everything has to come to an end. and thank god for that cuz this season sucked.

(and seriously, what was up with all the people with brand new haircuts?)
planet_taters: (Default)
contestant's choice:

casey james - don't know this song and think it was a bad choice. the whole thing was pretty bad.

crystal bowersox - this song has always been one of my favorites, but i did not care for this.

lee dewyze - really like this song and thought he did well.

judges choice:

casey james - lame.

crystal bowersox - why is she singing about being a man? no wonder she doesn't understand.

lee dewyze - love this song, but it's been done too much on idol at this point. would have preferred a simpler version with just him, tho. did not care for the faux "choir."
planet_taters: (Default)
totally forgot about this show last night. hah! goes to show how much i care this year.

lee dewyze - god i hate this fucking song. can't even stand listening to it.

michael lynche - i don't know if i've mentioned this, but i don't like this guy. horrible song choice.

crystal & lee - seriously? it really pisses me off that they chose this song. what the fuck. but i didn't like it and their voices did NOT work well together, so whatever.

casey james - strange song choice. pretty boring performance.

crystal bowersox - does NObody help these people choose songs? not impressed.

casey & mike - worst night of song choices EVER.

watching this was a struggle. i skipped SO MUCH of it and was annoyed at "having" to watch it. why did i even bother downloading? god this season sucks.

EDIT: looking back, i'm pretty mad at myself for not enjoying last season as much as i should have.

EDIT for the RESULTS:

big mike, i still say you only finished ninth.
planet_taters: (Default)
okay, so maybe it's just my opinion.

from the first time i listened to kris allen's cd, 'the truth' was one of my favorite songs. and if i had to choose ONE song from the album to be my absolute favorite, i'd probably say 'the truth.' i just want to be very clear that i LOVE 'the truth' by kris allen. it is AMAZING.

that being said, i love 'the truth' by KRIS ALLEN. not kris allen and some other guy (aka pat monahan from train). i think the record label deciding to re-work the song as a duet is a horrible and horrendous idea. it sounds AWFUL. pat's voice does NOT work well with kris' and when the bridge starts up it is extremely jarring and sounds like some terrible peter brady voice malfunction. there is absolutely NO sound reason to make such a change to what is already an amazing song.

and this leaves me torn. because i want kris to do well, but i don't want THIS song to do well. or more specifically, this VERSION of the song. can people call in to radio stations requesting the original to be played instead? i mean, is that something stations would be ALLOWED to do? if so, i totally think people should do that. i don't WANT to support this version of the song. sorry, but i don't. i feel bad that that would affect kris negatively, but i kinda don't care. it's a BAD SONG in this released single adaption, and i think the record label needs to be shown that they fucked up. i also think that kris needs to stand up for himself and his music. trust and believe in yourself as an artist and in the song you originally did, because it is PERFECT that way.

grr argh this really annoys me way more than it should.
planet_taters: (Default)
i LOVE harry connick, jr. interesting that he did the actual arrangements, so i hope it goes well.

(was that anthony hopkins in the audience?)

aaron kelly - he didn't do too bad, but i still think he's just TOO young.

casey james - he sounded off key right from the beginning. this was not good at all. why is this the FIRST time anyone has mentioned his vibrato?

crystal bowersox - i thought she sounded lovely, but it was slightly boring. it seemed like they tried really hard not to show her back tattoo, which was strange.

michael lynche - he annoys me. lather, rinse, repeat.

lee dewyze - i really liked this. he does still need that confidence boost tho.

EDIT for RESULTS:

sorry aaron. but i'm not sad to see you go.
planet_taters: (Default)
god, i fucking hate shania twain (as an artist). and why do they keep limiting the contestants so much? why not stay with a 'country' or 'grand ol opry' theme, as opposed to ONE artist. fucking lame.

lee dewyze - he definitely re-worked this. didn't like the beginning, but he got into the groove in the middle. he sounded pretty good and i think he stretched his range with this song.

michael lynche - this song always annoyed me because i have SO much love for 'it only hurts when i breathe' by greenwheel (or the version by melissa etheridge). he sounded alright, but he still bugs me and i find him boring.

casey james - one of the only songs of hers that i like. and i really liked this. he did a great job (except for the vibrato - still annoying me, dude).

crystal bowersox - don't like this song and thought it was really boring. but she sounded pretty. and i loved the 'message' to her boyfriend, hehe.

aaron kelly - another song i don't like. and he's just NOT ready vocally.

siobhan magnus - god i hate this fucking song. and i hated this performance. oh, siobhan :(

i must admit that i find myself liking shania as a person, and her adorable (funny) canadian accent.

EDIT:

fuck you michael lynche and aaron kelly.

two of my faves in the bottom two, but i gotta say i'm glad it's siobhan going home instead of casey.

THIS is what the judges save should be used for.
planet_taters: (Default)
casey james - fairly boring. he looks really awkward and sounds a little sick.

lee dewyze - oh, i LOVED this. he actually made me a little teary.

tim urban - and he just makes me weep. so i'll continue my mantra. die, tim urban, die!

aaron kelly - not good, dude. not good. are the judges on crack? wtf.

siobhan magnus - oh, honey, stop talking. she didn't sing it too terribly, but it was pretty boring. i loved her outfit tho.

michael lynche - i don't think this worked well.

crystal bowersox - really lovely and definitely inspiring. thank you crystal.

EDIT for RESULTS:

i remember the first year they did 'idol gives back' they didn't actually eliminate anybody. please don't do that this year. in fact, let's eliminate SEVERAL people as a bit of charity for those of us in the audience.

oh, how sweet was the bit with david cook. i really like him.

the annie lennox bit made me teary eyed.

over two hours? seriously? end already.

FINALLY! thank fuck. let us never hear from tim urban again.
planet_taters: (Default)
yeah adam! i never liked him last season, and i'm not a huge fan of his music, but i can't help but really like him :) except he said he was going to be honest, and then he went and said all the contestants had good voices. come on, won't SOMEbody actually BE honest? i was hoping we could count on you adam. *sigh*

crystal bowersox - really cool.

andrew garcia - thank you, adam for telling him it was boring. too bad the 'changes' didn't fix that problem.

tim urban - blergh. funny he didn't take adam's (bad) advice. goddamn if this fucker wins.

lee dewyze - another song done too many times on idol. he did really well, tho.

aaron kelly - little kid trying to play dress up.

siobhan magnus - kinda boring at the beginning and just strange at the end.

michael lynche - all i can hear is cartman.

katie stevens - another little kid playing dress-up

casey james - wish he hadn't played in the audience. always a bad move. liked this song and he did fairly well, but still too much vibrato. the performance was lacking.

EDIT for the RESULTS:

every time they said double elimination, all i could think was double penetration. two guys for each girl this week!

the idol engineers seriously need to be fired.

definitely time for andrew to go home.

yikes. horrible stage stuff going on for adam. poor guy just can't catch a break while performing on live television.

none too sad about katie. still, poor kid.
planet_taters: (Default)
i'm so sick of the "themes" that idol does now. bleh.

aaron kelly - his voice just isn't mature enough. needs a lot more time. i loved simon's eyeroll.

katie stevens - kris already did this song this year. and he was awesome. this kinda wasn't.

andrew garcia - ugh, another one behind the judges. that annoys me. as does this whole performance.

michael lynche - didn't david cook do this song? and way better. they really need to stop letting contestants do songs that have already been done before. i don't GET why the judges love mike so much.

crystal bowersox - and yet another kris allen already did. altho i really did like her version here.

tim urban - votefortheworst is having a boom year.

casey james - never heard this song before, and i LOVED it. his vibrato still annoys me, but he had so much emotion and that was great. THIS is what idol is about.

siobhan magnus - boring. but she sounded nice. (not great, but nice)

lee dewyze - okay, so he didn't perform this during the competition, but kris allen DID perform this during the idol tour. i do love lee, but this was fucking strange and not in a good way.

EDIT for RESULTS:

wow, what a wasted save. still have 9 people judges. i hope this screws them in the end. well, no. cuz that probably means it'd be screwing me. but still.
planet_taters: (Default)
siobhan magnus - boring. and bad vocals. i had to mute for a bit cuz i just couldn't take it. poor sweet thing.

casey james - i really liked this a lot. a little bit too much vibrato, but i think he did a great job.

big mike - i actually kinda liked this. but he still annoys the ever loving fuck out of me.

didi benami - i don't think her vocal style worked with this song. it was very strange.

tim urban - i hate this song and i really can't stand this kid.

andrew garcia - well this was unexpectedly lovely. don't know this song, but i really liked it.

katie stevens - boring. don't think she sounded that great.

lee dewyze - love love LOVED this. and his voice was spot on the whole time.

crystal bowersox - this was lovely as well. she did look a bit uncomfortable tho.

aaron kelly - oh honey. just no. also, ain't no sunshine when any idol other than kris allen sings this song.

i am SO sick of all the judges/ryan shit that we have to watch. really fucking annoying.

EDIT for the RESULTS:

god damn you mother fucking tim urban. didi should not have gone home yet.
planet_taters: (Default)
hahaha. miley cyrus? season 9 just officially became a joke.

lee dewyze - love this song. this arrangement was strange, but he sounded pretty good.

paige miles - god, is she STILL here. i really don't like her. love this song. ugh this was boring and (yes, randy) terrible.

tim urban - fuck, did he just try and wink before going to commercial? just... no. can we send him AND miley home? pair of idiots. love this song, but it's been done too much on idol. and he just made it worse. seriously dude. stop.

aaron kelly - ugh, i hate this song. the beginning sounded good, but the rest was really bad.

crystal bowersox - awesome song choice. i would have liked to hear more WORDS, tho. more of the actual song, instead of the riffing at the end. i LOVE the carpet and that she sat down, heh.

michael lynche - surprisingly enough, i did not hate this. but i'm still not exactly a fan.

andrew garcia - meh. i was so bored, i just couldn't pay attention.

katie stevens - i am ashamed to admit that this song is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. she sounded off key the whole time.

casey james - cheesy song, but i love it. and i think he did a really good job.

didi benami - i wanted to like this, but i didn't.

siobhan magnus - hmm, not a fan of this song AT ALL. love the hair and outfit, tho. kinda sick of the high notes. they've gone the route of shrieking.

man, this was SUCH a lame night. worst season ever?

EDIT for the RESULTS:

definitely the right bottom three.

tie for the bottom? send em both home?

wow. simon was hardcore to paige. i like it!
planet_taters: (Default)
i am very much NOT a rolling stones fan. the only song i really like by them is 'wild horses' and that's pretty much only because of the cover by the sundays.

michael lynche - bleh. not a fan of his voice and can't stand watching him perform.

didi banami - i really liked this. never heard this song before. but i find her kind of annoying.

casey james - sorta cool, but also kinda lame (cuz i don't like rolling stones songs) and it was a bit repetitive.

lacey brown - why did i think this was a beatles song? probably because i'm not interested in either band. anyway, i'm just not a fan of her voice. don't think she's good enough.

andrew garcia - bleh. don't really care for him either. but his dad is adorable and sweet.

katie stevens - she definitely switched it up a bit and sang fairly well.

tim urban - why? why is he here? (and omg heart hands. douchey gokey reincarnated?) bring back alex lambert.

siobhan magnus - i really love her, but i did not care for this. boring at the beginning, and those high notes didn't go very well. but i still love her.

lee dewyze - don't know this song, but i loved it. i'm afraid that people are going to see his nervousness as being cocky.

paige miles - still mad yer here instead of katelyn. not a fan. and you ain't gettin no sympathy from me.

aaron kelly - dude, his mom/aunt's name is kelly kelly. fairly boring performance, but not too terribly horrible. he needs his voice to officially break and be done.

crystal bowersox - aww, i love her daddy too. not awesome, but still very good.

EDIT for the RESULTS:

who is this rocker chick? never heard of her and have no clue how to spell whatever ryan called her so i can't google.

absolutely the right bottom three. and not a one worth the judges save. can we just get rid of them all tonight? please?

wow. this kesha chick is just about the worst thing i have ever seen. people actually like this? fucking hell.
planet_taters: (Default)
it's hard to believe they are actually singing, when their mouths aren't moving to the correct words (or even any words).

i LOVE siobhan's outfit. so lovely :)

a bit ambivalent about didi, but pleased.

what? i have no clue how paige made it over katelyn. how annoying.

yay, casey :)

seriously? what the ever-loving fuck, america. tim urban???

oh, thank fuck. i was gonna be really pissed if todrick made it over lee.

crystal. no surprise.

mike. bleh.

lacey. meh.

aaron. bleh.

poor alex, i really liked him :(

andrew. meh.

wow. really surprised katie made it over lilly. not that i mind, since i never cared for her, but still.
planet_taters: (Default)
lee dewyze - never heard this song before. but i liked this.

alex lambert - love this song, and this wasn't too bad.

tim urban - awesome song. and not as bad as i thought it would be.

andrew garcia - interesting. kinda cool, but not quite there.

casey james - love this song. and i really loved this.

aaron kelly - i hate this song so much. and i thought this was awful.

todrick hall - love this song. and this wasn't horrible.

michael lynch - the kate bush version of this song is one of my all-time favorite songs EVER. this was nothing like it and it makes me want to weep (and NOT in a good way). ugh. and omg are the judges fucking serious? seriously???

tangent: rip corey haim :(
planet_taters: (Default)
ugh. that beginning bit made me SO uncomfortable. i couldn't even watch.

katie stevens - really bad song choice for her. she did not sound good.

siobhan magnus - wow. i really loved this. simon is SO wrong.

lacey brown - love this song. not a fan of her.

katelyn epperly - this was pretty lame. did not like it.

didi benami - i actually really liked this. very cool.

paige miles - boring and strange. plus, she sounded pretty shaky. (yeah, and that lame ass michael jackson story deserves an automatic elimination)

crystal bowersox - love this song. and this was pretty good.

lilly scott - kinda hated this. i just don't care for her.
planet_taters: (Default)
drama! *rolls eyes*

watch me mute the group sing. good god it is so awful. why do they even continue to do these? i bet it's not even them singing the pre-recorded crap.

john park & jermaine sellers - not sad to see them go

i can't believe that at this point last year, i actually liked danny gokey. and is deciding to "go country" the only way he was able to get an album deal? god, he is such a douche.

michelle delamor - good choice

haeley vaughn - think it should have been lacey, but not too bummed

wow. america is looking extremely racist right now.
planet_taters: (Default)
crystal bowersox - glad she sucked it up and performed. so far i've been really iffy about her, but i LOVED this. (does kara EVER pay attention? idiot)

haeley vaughn - i did not care for this. and good god what is up with the ridiculously short skirts? kara actually gave good advice and i liked ryan questioning simon.

lacey brown - i just don't think she has that good of a voice. she still looks crazy nervous.

katie stevens - i liked this. she definitely has a good voice.

didi benami - i'm not sure about this one. i kinda liked it, but i then i kinda didn't. i dunno.

michelle delamor - wtf outfit? i hate this song and she made it even worse. and not very good vocals. her smile seems weird and fake. and idiot engineers don't know who the fuck vera wang is, wth.

lilly scott - dude, she totes reminds me of tina yothers. did not like this. don't get what everybody sees in her.

katelyn epperly - not a fan of coldplay, but i do like this song and i kinda liked this a LOT. but i agree that it was crazy slow. and omg short ass skirt while playing the piano with crotch aimed straight at the boys. *shakes head* (tangent: loved kris allen doing this song a couple weeks ago. it was really awesome).

paige miles - i'm sorry, but NOBODY does it better than kelly. she is the original for a reason. but she did do a fairly good job, just not great.

siobhan magnus - i did not particularly care for this, but i do still really like her. and that note was pretty killer. she IS a bit of a dichotomy, though.
planet_taters: (Default)
michael lynche - didn't care for this, but was glad he didn't "play" a guitar this week.

john park - boring

casey james - love this song. i really like him and his voice, but that vibrato is really fucking annoying. but damn the boy can play!

alex lambert - aww, now i feel bad for the kid. this was so much better than last week, and i kinda liked his voice. but he still looks scared shitless.

todrick hall - boring

jermaine sellers - hate this song. i didn't even like kris allen singing this. and what the fuck is up with all these jazzy hotel lounge arrangements? the music is just fucking AWFUL. and his voice can't do what he tries to do with it.

andrew garcia - boring & lame

aaron kelly - WHY do contestants keep picking these crap songs? grr argh. his voice is not bad, but he sounds his age - cracky and everything. maybe in five years, kid.

tim urban - LOVE this song. and WHAT a difference from last week. but i still don't think he's a good singer.

lee dewyze - yeah, that was pretty fucking awesome. i LOVE this guy. totes my favorite :)
planet_taters: (Default)
god these group songs are just awful. and so not live, ha ha. talk about tweaked.

janell wheeler - even tho she didn't do very well, i'm really surprised she got cut. i thought for sure her looks and hollywood performance would carry her a lot farther. also, i think she sounded much better tonight. too bad.

allison iraheta fucking rocks :)

ashley rodriguez - not surprised. and god i think she sounded even worse tonight.

kris allen and his fucking adorable commercials make me want to buy a ford. THAT IS SO WRONG.

joe munoz - wait, what? are you fucking kidding? tim urban so should have had his ass beaten.

omg what a pansy i am. kris allen totally made me cry. and i miss him SO much (how stupid is that and it makes no sense) but i LOVED seeing him on my television again. he is so amazingly awesome and that was an absolutely beautiful performance. loves him!

tyler grady - wait, what? are you fucking kidding? alex lambert so should have had his ass beaten.

neither janell nor tyler should have gone home. i'm really surprised.

regardless, can we go back to season 8 and have kris allen again please? kthanx.
planet_taters: (Default)
todrick hall - interesting. not a very good voice.

aaron kelly - i'm not sure if i think this kid can sing or not. he was pretty off and on, but i liked it overall.

jermaine sellers - hate this song. omg shrieky.

tim urban - horrible in hollywood, horrible now.

joe munoz - first look at this kid. don't know this song. not that great, but i kinda liked him.

tyler grady - i hate this song. but i like him and his voice, even tho he didn't quite hit those notes. also, he's just a cool guy and took that criticism like a pro.

lee dewyze - his voice is rough and raw and maybe not the best, but i LOVED this. thought this was actually a really cool song to choose and he changed it up nicely. officially my favorite :)

john park - ugh. such a horrible song choice. not good man.

michael lynch - i don't like his voice. and the guitar always looks like a prop on him.

alex lambert - he seemed so awkward. he has an interesting voice.

casey james - i really like him and he sounded good, but he had crazy bad vibrato that he needs to work on. my other favorite :)

andrew garcia - love this song. interesting revision. sounds good, but not sure this worked.
