The Sword in the Stone - Part 2

well, the first 38 minutes were fucking awesome, but the last 5 were absolute shit.

loved all the merlin and arthur. the sword scene totally made me cry. still pissed about the lack of reveal, even tho i knew it wasn't happening.

arthur and gwen still make me cringe. DO NOT WANT.

and morgana was finally fucking dead, but that stupid dragon that we all thought was so fucking cute has brought her back to life? what the fuck, aithusa? wtf??
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Sword in the Stone - Part 1

well, that sucked. i was expecting (hah! why do i bother?) the penultimate ep to be much better than this.

have merlin enchant arthur into an idiot and then have merlin be an ass and treat him like shit. yeah, so fucking hilarious. seriously? aren't they done with this shit yet? god, so frustrating. arthur almost made me cry and i can't believe merlin didn't feel bad :(

morgana was a bitch as always, but her sudden love of cock-fighting (ha ha) was strange.

agravaine was pathetic as always.

gwen was brought back into play with epic violins of epicness in an attempt to hide her shit acting and their complete lack of chemistry. *yawn*

yeah, i don't know why i was expecting anything better than this either.

at least we got gwaine acting like the character they first introduced in season 3.

oh, and also. what the fuck happened to percival?
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Hunter's Heart

this ep was pretty lame. nothing actually happened.

the whole morgana/agravaine bit is SO old and tiresome at this point. and the whole gwen bit was pointless and boring.

merlin was REALLY fucking annoying the whole time. WHY was he pushing for gwen so much? there is no reasoning behind it. and then saying nobody would sacrifice more for camelot than gwen? wtf are you talking about? again, this is more TELL not SHOW. seriously, this makes no sense whatsoever. WHAT THE FUCK HAS SHE DONE?

i really liked the princess! it's such a shame that they brought on yet another cool character, and great match for arthur, only to give her the shaft in the end. AGAIN. really fucking annoying. these characters just really emphasize how shit gwen and morgana are.

i liked that arthur genuinely like the princess as well. he was so flippin cute! stupid merlin :(

also, what kind of illness did bradley have? his face has been mangled the past two eps.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
A Herald of the New Age

the first bit of this ep was really boring. but the last bit was awesome.

i really liked how merlin was essentially disagreeing with agravaine right in front of arthur.

i loved how arthur hid what he was going to do from agravaine and isn't automatically taking his advice anymore.

arthur's confession re: the druid camp was a complete surprise and his speech made me cry. that scene was amazing and bradley james was just stellar. and also gorgeous! LOVE that long brown coat. unf.

the scenes for next week's episode made a lol (gwen screaming and flying into a tree) and cringe (a morgana and gwen ep). not appealing :(
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
Lancelot du Lac

was NOT looking forward to this episode AT ALL. i have no trust in the writers or the tptb in handling this storyline well.

now having watched, i'm not quite sure how i feel. going back and forth, because i actually enjoyed watching the ep, even tho i was hating most of what they were doing.

i love and adore arthur. and i think bradley james has been pretty fucking amazing this season. but i dislike gwen SO much, and i think angel coulby is a shit actor. so even tho i really kinda hate the arthur/gwen relationship we've been given from this show, i actually think this COULD have been fairly good. but gwen/angel just doesn't fit the bill and is no match for arthur/bradley, character wise or acting wise. so it didn't work and that's unfortunate.

i also love and adore lancelot. i HATE what they've done to him, i HATE the way that they brought him back from the dead in this way and i HATE that they really did kill him in the end. i was bawling in that last scene with him and merlin :'( i was hoping that maybe it would just be the shade that was dead, so REAL lancelot could eventually really come back, but then merlin did his little spell thingy and it seems that real lancelot DID come back at the end and then STILL died. shit. fuckers. so sad :(

i know it's awful to say, but i'm really glad that arthur sent gwen away. i know she eventually WILL be crowned queen this season, but i really don't look forward to that happening, and i'm glad it didn't happen this ep. so i liked that, even tho i hurt for arthur.

speaking of hurting arthur, wtf merlin? dude's just been cheated on and yer all extolling her virtues and "forgive her" the very next day. give the man a bit of time to grieve and shit. be a supportive best friend!

oh, and i didn't like gwen's line saying "i've always wanted to be your queen" instead of "wife". that really bugged me.

ack, i'm so torn.

also, how many pieces of fucking jewelry does morgana HAVE? good gravy.

also also, how hot was the scene with lancelot coming out of the lake?? unf.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
again, i just realized i forget to comment on last week's episode. (omg, what the fuck is up with this shitty font lj???)

the secret sharer

i didn't particularly enjoy this episode. i don't like the honest people being set up thing, and torture isn't my bag, either.

i also still don't understand why everybody keeps lying to arthur about morgana and agravaine. it makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

things i did like...

the scene with merlin and the other magic dude. it seriously made me tear up. how beautiful was that??

the scene with arthur and gauis at the end. gauis' speech was wonderful and i'm so glad he FINALLY explained the issue re: dragoon and uther. i hope arthur remembers this speech when the reveals happens.

lamia

lame is right. seriously, this episode was horrible as fuck. SO boring. i have absolutely NOthing positive to say about it.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
A Servant of Two Masters

this episode was really lame.

the only thing i liked was merlin in his attempts to kill arthur. that was funny.

oh, and the lovely merlin/arthur scene at the beginning. so sweet :)

oh, oh. and the hug! how could i forget the hug!!
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
His Father's Son

just realized i never commented about this ep.

i enjoyed it, but i don't know if i'd call it a good episode. there was a lot of rolling my eyes throughout.

i liked the "enemy" king and queen. she was great. why the fuck can't we have regular female characters like this? we get stuck with two shit ones instead. hopefully we'll see queen annis again sometime. oh, and i LOVED how she told morgana she was more like uther than gorlois. hah.

the gwen bits were stupid. i'm still not buying this "relationship".

the main redeeming factor of this episode was the absolutely UNDENIABLE LOVE between merlin and arthur. seriously. and there was some MAJOR eye-fucking going on in this ep. it's so beautiful :)

it's possible i had more thoughts, but i've forgotten them if i did.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
Aithusa

omg i LOVED this episode!

iffy about the knights picking on merlin tho :(

regardless, AWESOME. and what an adorable little dragon :)
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Wicked Day

so. apparently i am one of the few who didn't think this episode was OMG, BEST EP EVER! WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE SEASON ONE!! as it seems most of the rest of fandom is. i guess i'm just missing something.

anyhow. while it was a very good episode and it ended on a hopeful note, it still made me SO angry! WHY are they going to SUCH an extent to make arthur hate magic so? why?? what is the point of that? everybody seems to suddenly be okay with the lack of reveal. i am not. it just frustrates me and makes me unhappy. poor merlin :(

and FINALLY! uther is fucking dead thank god. while it makes me sad that arthur is losing his father, and i do love ash, i am so fucking glad that uther is finally GONE. it's about time. he was such a bastard and i don't feel bad for feeling this way.

while some of the moments with dragoon were lovely, he still made me mostly cringe. i just don't care for this way of telling the story. and (again) in the end it was all for naught. which brings me to...

why the FUCK didn't gauis show that necklace to arthur? what kind of bullshit was that? he could have proven that dragoon was a GOOD sorceror and that he WAS healing uther and that (again) it was morgana being evil. what the fuck you stupid ass old man??? that made NO sense at all. fucking lame.

we saw very little of gwen (thank god) but she continues being cruel and heartless. every ep so far this season she's proven herself to be careless and unthoughtful and cruel with her words. ep 1 with lancelot (couldn't ask your brother or friend?), ep 2 with arthur (lancelot didn't die for camelot, he did it for ME), and ep 3 with arthur. he was trying to THANK her for caring for his father (which, yes, it utter bullshit. where the hell are his previous servants? why/how is gwen suddenly taking care of him?) while he's hurting and sad and watching him die, and instead of just saying "you're welcome" or something, she has to tell him that she's only doing it for him. wow, way to be callous about the man you've just been thanked for "helping". bet that makes arthur feel real good.

most of the merlin and arthur scenes were absolutely lovely, and for that i am thankful because that is why i watch this show. but many were just painful due to either 1. dragoon 2. lying/truth about magic. altho, the scene at the end when merlin is waiting outside the hall by the staircase was just utterly gorgeous! their closeness and friendship was beautiful to see. they really are best friends!

also, arthur says that both his parents died because of magic. since when did he find out that his mother died of magic? maybe i'm remembering incorrectly, but i thought he believed she died giving birth to him? and the whole thing with morgause in "sins of the father" was explained away by her being a lying evil sorceress. again, am i missing something?

so tired and bored of morgana. dear god i hope she's still not hanging around continuing to be the evil baddie next season. altho, by then i may have finally decided to stop watching.

so yeah. i get WAY too invested in tv shows.

EDIT:

a post i appreciated re: this episode... http://dreamdustmama.livejournal.com/170103.html
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Darkest Hour - Part 2

i knew it! i knew that lancelot would sacrifice himself for merlin. i knew they'd either kill him or turn him evil or something awful. fuck but that man was beautiful. he'd better not be gone for good! *cries*

so yeah. this episode was absolute shit. why so awful, show? why??? but i'm trying to focus on the positive, so...

lancelot and merlin friendship. but then they kill lancelot :(

so that leaves...

merlin and arthur! seriously, the merlin/arthur was awesome in this episode, and that was it's only redeeming quality. just make out and get married already. so beautiful you stupid foolish idiots. *loves*

ugh. why do i watch this fucking show? the pretty, right. i watch for the pretty.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Darkest Hour - Part 1

finally! merlin is no longer a boy, but a man :)

lancelot. yay!

love the knights.

hmm. me thinks merlin is going to sacrifice himself for arthur, but then lancelot is going to sacrifice himself for merlin. or something like that. stupid lancelot!

i loved a lot about this ep, and i'm just pretending the other stuff doesn't even exist.

oh, how i love and hate you, you stupid crap show.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
so i'm totally spoiling myself for season 4 of merlin. people post shit and i can't stop myself. i have no self control! plus, i figure i was so annoyed and frustrated while watching season 3, that this may be the only time i get to feel real fun and joy and stuff re: the show itself without all my crazy thinky thoughts and complaints. i love these boys and want to enjoy them!

it looks like i'll probably be going to chicago comic-con again this year. gdl will be there. holy shit! do i get an autograph or not? i totally want to, but i think i'll be way too scared shitless to do so. yes, i am a pathetic wuss.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
haven't felt like writing about the eps, but i just finished the last one and loved it so much i had to.

Queen of Hearts (ep 10)

absolutely hated this episode. the arthur/gwen was ridiulous and cheesy and horrible. that slow mo scene and THE most awkward kiss ever. yeah, no thanks. still not buying it.

and merlin turning into an old man was such a cool concept, but so poorly used. him standing up to uther could have been SO awesome and yet it was just used for humor and to show merlin looking like a fucking idiot.

such a fucking waste. merlin, i am disappoint.

The Sorceror's Shadow (ep 11)

oh, hey, look. another tournament *shakes head*

i actually really enjoyed this episode for the most part. i liked that they FINALLY had another magic person that merlin could relate to and be friends with. imagine that.

i loved that gilli stood up to merlin and told him some hard truths about himself. hiding behind being a servant and protecting uther and kinda forgetting his own. i was like "yeah!"

also, dudley dursley, what would your parents say!

The Coming of Arthur - part 1 (ep 12)

i started bawling at the beginning of this thinking that leon was dead. i love leon! thank fuck he survived :)

gauis saying "uther is no fool." hah! seriously? both uther and gauis are fools.

totally bummed that morgause killed cenred :( even tho you knew it was gonna happen eventually.

The Coming of Arthur - part 2 (ep 13)

take out the horrible arthur/gwen bullshit and i fucking LOVED this episode!!!

freaked out at the beginning AGAIN because of leon. don't kill him!

and freya... yay! oh my god that so made me cry. although, admittedly, pretty much everything in this ep made me cry.

lancelot! (and percival the giant, heh) fuck yes!!! oh, how i have missed lancelot. and i LOVE the merlin and lancelot friendship and him knowing about his magic. yay!

the scene at the round table was so beautiful and lovely! and lancelot stands first of course :) i don't know much about the legend of the round table, but i was bummed that they just kinda happen upon it without much actual story behind it. oh hey, a table, let's use it. oh well.

and oh my god arthur made them knights! yet more tears. so cool!!!

and the sword in the stone!

so yeah. i LOVED this episode (mostly). still can't believe that uther is STILL not dead, but oh well. they left the ending pretty open, so hopefully by the time the next season starts, a couple of years will have passed and the bastard will be dead.

i love the merlin/arthur friendship, i love the merlin/lancelot friendship, i love leon, i think i'll love percival, i think gwaine is a goober but i do like him. unfortunately, that's only boys. if morgause is dead (which i'm assuming she is *pouts*) and morgana gone (good riddance) there aren't any more women besides gwen (god help me *pouts*). let's fix that next season, yeah?
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Eye of the Phoenix (ep 8)

i mostly enjoyed this ep, but there were tons of things that annoyed me (big surprise). i wrote a big huge e-mail to my dad about it, but don't really care to bother at this point.

arthur sinking like artax in the neverending story cracked me up. the courage-magic-strength thing being set up as all important and absolutely NOTHING coming of it was lame as fuck.

and lots of other annoying things, blah blah blah.

Love in the Time of Dragons (ep 9)

i was pretty bored with this ep. (uther is angry about magic, oh no!) it didn't take the season anywhere. it did nothing for the story or the plot or the characters. it insulted merlin's magic ability and degraded the arthur/merlin relationship (altho that's pretty much standard for this season).

it was nice not to have to deal with morgana or gwen.

so overall, i'm pretty fed up with season 3 of merlin. the arthur/merlin relationship has been reduced to complete idiocy. it had been SO nice and sweet. now it's just lame. insult, banter, toss goblet, injure with weapons, ha ha. yeah, no thanks. and i had REALLY high expectations after the first two episodes. that the characters and the relationships were going to mature and evolve and... just be so much better than this. it's extremely annoying and frustrating and greatly disappointing.

oh well, that'll teach me to get sucked into something so quickly. fucking stupid show.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Castle of Fyrien

the episode wasn't as horrible as i expected, but i still didn't care too much for it.

i already like morgause (for some reason) and since cenred was tom milligan from doctor who (who i loved), i found myself kind of rooting for them. altho i still loathe morgana.

gwen's brother was boring and the gwen/arthur was still lame.

and i just don't know about merlin. i love him dearly but some times he just annoys the hell out of me.

edit: also, what the fuck was gwen wearing?

edit 2: also also, i love that red dress morgause wears. and her fucking gorgeous hair. lovely.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
The Changeling

i thought this was a pretty lame episode. it all feels very formulaic and boring. don't they have better script writers?

also, am i really supposed to want arthur and gwen together? it was all sad and boo-hoo and i was so rolling my eyes. arthur crying? wtf... seriously? lame. i guess i don't see why they even like each other. they have absolutely NOthing in common. it is being REALLY forced this season and is extremely off-putting to me.

what i would have loved? arthur and elena (minus the she) dating or something. i loved elena! how sweet and awkward and adorable was she? now they would have made an excellent couple. being an awesome horsewoman and being able to banter with arthur... that would have been cool. plus, beautiful princess!

but alas, we've got to deal with the whole "destiny" bullshit, even tho we KNOW that gwen truly loves lancelot and will screw around. so again, why am i supposed to want her and arthur together?

i'm just not buying it and am annoyed that it will apparently be a VERY strong arc this season, so i'm totally not looking forward to any more.

grr argh.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
i really disliked episode 3. it was lame.

i liked episode 4 alright, but wasn't a huge fan of gwaine. i mean, he was fine, but the immediate friendship with him and merlin and him losing his father and blah blah blah. it just feels forced and way too similar to what we've seen before. i do want to know who's ring he was wearing around his neck tho (not that we'll ever find out).

just finished watching episode 5. it was REALLY good in a lot of spots (first part in the forest... holy hell!), but really fucking ANNOYING in others (anything with uther and morgana and gwen). i'm confused as to why merlin is so desperate to have uther not die. seriously? this is what you want, dude. arthur becomes king and you can use your magic. merlin hates the king so why does he care? listen to the fucking dragon.

the uther/morgana bits creeped me the fuck out. the arthur/gwen bit was extremely awkward. i still really like morgause even tho i don't think i'm supposed to. i love merlin, but why so stupid dude? grr argh.

so, again. so much i love and yet so much i hate.
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
merlin and arthur are fucking awesome. as is leon.

the harry potter similarities cracked me up. merlin on the dragon, the shrieking mandrake. funny :)

i hate that they are making me almost feel sorry for uther when i hate him so. i want to see arthur as king already.

morgana is quite the nasty girl, but i can't help but kinda like morgause. gwen bores me now :(

also, tom milligan! looks quite different with the long hair.

in part 1, the merlin/arthur scenes were awkward and out of place. like they were last minute or something. in part 2 tho, i loved the scene with them in arthur's chambers getting ready to go out and fight. awesome! almost made me a wee bit teary eyed.

stupid ridiculous show has me completely sucked in!
planet_taters: (merlin by eccentrickicons)
last night i watched episode 8 "sins of the father". what a good ep! until the end of course when they all start lying to each other again. that's really pissing me off more than i can take right now. so fucking stupid.

and then tonight i watched episode 9 "lady of the lake". omg how wonderful and sweet merlin was! and what a beautiful kiss. he liked freya so much and that was so very sad :(

i am obviously feeling extra emotional at the moment, heh.
