how i spent my weekend...
May. 3rd, 2010 09:42 pmsaturday i finally hung the pictures in my bedroom. i also put together the table i bought a while back (no more stacked boxes). i have a lamp and my alarm clock on the top of the table and my awesome giraffe family statue (that my papa gave me) on the bottom. i still need to hang the mirror i bought at new year above the table, but it's really heavy so i need big screws. *rolls eyes*
so, i am almost done with my bedroom! i think it looks awesome and it makes me stupidly happy when i walk in the room. yay me :)
yesterday was my sister's birthday, so my family went out to lunch and then back to the rents for cake and ice cream. i bought the cake at costco and it was REALLY yummy. i got one with a dinosaur on it and said it was because she is "old as a donna-saur." my nephews loved that and kept calling it a donnasaurus.
her and i also stopped by the sprint store to add me to her account so we could get a family plan and pay less. well, i will now pay $20 less a month (yay!). i actually think it's the same for her regardless because of the discount she gets from her employer. but i really appreciate her letting me do this, cuz that is a huge savings, and means i'm only paying $10 more than what i was before, which would have been the same as only added texting. i'm glad we decided to do the unlimited data, it's been really cool.
tangent: re-reading the above proves just how stupid i have gotten in my old age. my grammar, punctuation and general way of speaking/writing is horrendous. i always sound like a frickin idiot. *needs better brains*

dreamwidth
May. 3rd, 2010 10:04 pmi have now started up a dreamwidth account.
after a very kind lj user offered to share their extra invite codes, i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask (even tho i'm a complete stranger) and they generously sent it to me straight away. thanks temporal_witch :)
i'll be messing about with it in the next couple of days and hopefully get a feel for things. then i'll decide how (and if) i'm going to actually proceed with it.
first awesome thing about dreamwidth: they have a "light style" link at the top of the page! i type ?format=light about a million and twelve times a day in livejournal, and a button like that would be crazy helpful!
first lame thing about dreamwidth: their layout themes suck ass. i'm sure if i got a paid account i would be able to do more, but i'm obviously not going to do that. so at the moment it's pretty ugly looking.
i'm sure i'll never become very proficient with it, especially considering how i'm still pretty crap at using livejournal half the time (even after four years), but i feel like there are A LOT of compelling reasons to support dreamwidth instead of livejournal.
