Doctor Who S5E6

The Vampires of Venice

i enjoyed this episode but it wasn't exactly amazing.

i really like rory a lot and i loved the beginning bit with his stag party and the doctor jumping out of the cake. what i don't like is how i see this becoming another rose/mickey situation because i HATED that. SO MUCH. but it looks like the doctor sees this as well, which is why he went and got rory and gave them that whole speech at the beginning and the 'date' thing. so hopefully this will work out better, but i'm not holding my breath.

i liked the speech rory gave the doctor about how he makes people want to impress him by putting themselves in danger.

it also doesn't look like i was right about the 'something is wrong with amy' thing and that's why she went after the doctor at the end of the last episode. it looks like they are just playing it as "i'm alive, let's have sex."

the whole 'silence' thing reminds me of 'the nothing' in the neverending story (one of the most awesomest movies ever). and i notice that in every episode the doctor is telling people to 'shut up' or 'sshhhh' or something to that affect. coincidence? i think not. correlation? i don't know.

also... gilbert! the son was the same guy who played gilbert in season one of being human.

and it sucks that the doctor is so intent on saving the earth that he is willing to kill an entire species. it seems like something should be able to be worked out. and yes, he was trying to save the lady (who was an awesome actress btw) at the end in what i am sure was an attempt to do just that, but still.

how i spent my weekend...

friday night i went out and did dinner and a movie with p and t. saw iron man 2. it was cute, but not as good as the first one. plus, the trailer totally lied and that really annoyed me. where was the adorable scene you kept showing us, damnit?

yesterday i did NOTHING. it was awesome. actually, i did do a slight bit of very minor cleaning, but besides that i just read, d/l and watched doctor who and played mahjong while listening to awesome music.

and i also spoke with my cousin. she sent me a text saying that she is getting gastric bypass surgery at the end of the summer. i also have an aunt (her aunt as well) who is having the surgery this summer. i don't know if they knew about the other beforehand or not, but i am curious. one of our other aunts had the surgery a couple of years ago. i think it will be a good thing for both of them.

me and my sister and my cousin (same one as above) are going to go up to mackinaw city and the u.p. in a month since my cousin has never been. i am very excited! hoping to go to tahquamenon falls. when i was younger we used to go to the u.p. a lot since we had friends that lived up there in gladstone. one summer we spent a couple weeks driving around the perimeter of the state (more or less) and saw all sorts of awesome michigan sites. the soo locks, the pictured rocks tour, the sleeping bear dunes, lots of different falls, and just all sorts of stuff. it was awesome. although, to be honest, we probably didn't do ALL of that on just that one trip, considering we went up there for many years.

today i went to the rents for mother's day. my sister and nephews were there also. ate and hung out per usual. lots of highway construction on the drive down, so i took back roads and it was beautiful and made me unexpectedly happy. i miss doing that.
